Dear friends

If you would like us to stay in touch with you and are interested in the activities of the Healing Light Spiritual Centre why not join our mailing list?

Each month we email our members to let you know who will be appearing at the next demonstration and a little about them to enable you to make an informed choice if you would like to come and watch that particular medium work. So, if you live in the Sussex area and would like to keep up to date with the Healing Light email your details to dwoo745786@aol.com putting “Mailing list update” in the subject line.

A Helping Hand for Erin

Marlene’s demonstration on July the 3rd at the Healing Light, Shoreham will be a very special event.  It is to raise money for Erin Eves-Cairns a three year old who suffers from Diplegia Cerebral Palsy.

Sadly, there is no treatment available in the United Kingdom for Erin’s condition and her parents have taken up the offer of much needed treatment at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital in the USA .  The operation has been booked for September and her parents are desperately trying to raise the £40,000 required to cover the cost of medical procedure and travel expenses.  Together with other supporters they have worked tirelessly at fund raising events from car boot sales to virtual balloon races and they have made local television appearances, yet they still have some way to go before achieving the level of funding required to get Erin to America .

Diplegia Cerebral Palsy affects all four limbs and delays the gross motor skills, in Erin ’s case the condition mainly affects her from the waist down which means she is unable to stand or walk un-aided or by use of her walking frame.  Her leg muscles and tendons are so tight that it restricts her movement and therefore, mobility.  Over time the condition will worsen causing even more pain and discomfort.  Untreated Erin will be confined to a wheelchair by the time she reaches her teens.

Over the past 24 years, Dr. Park from the St. Louis Children’s Hospital has performed over 1900 successful Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy operations which will reduce, if not remove, the spasticity in Erin ’s legs making it much easier and comfortable to move, giving her the quality of life we would expect for any young person.

We have committed to help Erin get to America by holding this special evening where 100% of the money raised, including mediums fee, will go direct to her family.  A raffle is being kindly supported by Southwick Square traders and on this occasion tickets will be sold outside the demonstration to maximise the fund raising effort.  In just a few days a 60 minute trial flying lesson, 30 minute horse riding lesson, quality hand made chocolates, basket of fruit, bottle of champagne and £20 gift voucher have all been donated as prizes!

It would be great if we can involve as many people as possible in the fund raising efforts and we would love to see you at Marlene’s demonstration.  But if you can’t get along, perhaps you could still help Erin by making your own collection and donation.  Full details of how to do this and to find out a lot more about Diplegia Cerebral Palsy visit Erin ’s website www.sdr4erin.com

Thank you for taking the time to read this as we believe everyone’s effort will not only help Erin, but will raise awareness of DCP and, hopefully, in time, there will be treatment available here in the UK that will help all of those who suffer from this dreadful condition.
